Masala Kichidi
Ingredients:
1.Rice 1 cup
2.Toor dal 1/2 cup
3.Oil 4 tbsp
4.Butter 2 tbsp
5.Cumin seeds 1/2 tbsp
6.Cinnamon stick 1 inch
7.Asafoetida a pinch
8.Raw peanuts 2 tbsp
9.Turmeric powder 1/4 tbsp
10.Black pepper 1/2 tbsp
11.Ground cloves 1/4 tbsp
12.Onion 1 medium chopped
13.Garlic 4 cloves
14.Green chillies to taste
15.Ginger 1 tbsp
16.Potato 1 medium
17.Green peas 1/2 cup
18.Salt to taste
19.Red chili powder to taste
Preparation:
1. mix Rice and Toor Daal and wash.
2.Add 3 cups water and soak for 40-60 minutes.
3.Heat oil in a pot,add cumin seeds,cinnamon stick,raw peanuts and mix well.fhy till peanuts turn light brown colour.
4. Add Turmeric Powder, Ground Cloves and Black Pepper Asofoetida. Mix rapidly.
5.Add onion chopped fry till to golden brown and mix well.
6.Add Garlic, Ginger and Green Chilies. Mix and cook for about few seconds.
7. Add, Red Chili Powder and Potatoes, Peas, Salt mix well.
8.Add Rice and Daal with Water. regulate salt,red chilli powder and give it a mix.
9.Close the pot, cook till to cook, immediately switch off the stove.
10.Serve hot.
